I’m heartbroken to inform you that Ilana Shanks, Stony Brook University, has passed away. I had the chance to meet her at the TCR conference at FSU. Everyone who met her in our community will remember her as a caring, joyful, intelligent, and hard-working person.

Dear Marketing Friends, Family, and Community,
It is with very heavy and broken hearts that we inform you that Ilana Shanks passed away due to complications with chronic asthma.
Ilana earned her Ph.D. in Marketing from Florida State University in 2019, advised by Maura Scott and Martin Mende. After completing her doctoral program, Lana accepted a position as an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Stony Brook University, N.Y.
Ilana was an exceptionally bright, friendly, hard-working, and highly professional scholar as well as an all-around lovely person who conducted exciting research at the intersection of technology, consumer behavior, and marketing, and society. Ilana has published her research in prestigious scholarly journals, including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Affairs, and Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management.
Above and beyond her stellar professional achievements, most importantly, Ilana was a beloved scholar, teacher, colleague, and friend to everyone who had the pleasure of working with her, being taught by her, or simply having met her. Lana was not only our student but was also a dear friend; she will remain in our hearts and will be dearly missed.
