The Department of Marketing and International Business at Washington State University in Pullman, WA is seeking qualified candidates for one or more permanent, full-time tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor depending on qualifications. While rank and research area are open, we are particularly interested in advanced candidates (advanced Assistant/Associate/Full Professors) with an active program of research in Marketing Strategy or related areas, including Selling and Sales Management, Interorganizational Relations, or Services research. The positions are on the Pullman campus and are subject to budget approval.
Qualifications
Required: Earned doctorate in Marketing or closely aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized university by the appointment start date. Assistant-level applicants will be considered if they have a completed or nearly completed PhD dissertation in Marketing or related field by August 2021, and clearly exhibit high potential for scholarly research in Managerial/Marketing Strategy or related areas targeted to the field’s premier journals and effective teaching. Candidates at more senior levels (associate or full professor) should additionally have established a record of excellence in published scholarly research in Managerial/Marketing Strategy or related areas targeted to the field’s premier journals consistent with the rank, as well as demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Preferred: The preferred candidate will (a) have demonstrated excellence in research in Marketing Strategy or related areas; (b) be capable of teaching marketing core and/or elective courses; (c) show knowledge and excellence of teaching undergraduate level courses (for Assistant Professor) and/or MBA and Ph.D. courses (for Associate and Full Professor); and (d) provide evidence of participation in doctoral student research and mentoring. Research interests need not be directly related to teaching areas. Ability to teach digital marketing, data analytics, or related courses, and experience with case-based or other interactive pedagogies, would also be welcomed.
Duties
Teach (face-to-face and/or distance) courses in marketing (normal teaching load is six hours, 2 courses per semester); be actively involved with doctoral education; maintain an active research program targeting the field’s premier journals; make service contributions to the department, college, university, community, and profession; and help further the research and teaching mission of the Carson College of Business.
Term, Compensation and Support
The term of appointment is a nine-month academic year, beginning on August 16, 2021. Rank is open; competitive salary and benefits with excellent retirement programs. Initial summer research support is normally available for more junior faculty; competitive summer research support is also normally available.
Washington State University (WSU)
Founded in 1890 in Pullman, WSU is the state of Washington’s land-grant institution and one of the country’s top public research universities. WSU has an enrollment of over 31,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students and approximately 6,500 faculty and staff at its five campuses (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver, and Everett), and online through its Global Campus. The Carson College of Business enrolls more than 2,500 undergraduate students and 1,200 online MBA and Executive MBA students combined.
