The visiting emerging scholars in service research program in the marketing area at the Gabelli School of Business is designed to attract promising PhD students and junior researchers to Fordham University in New York City to interact with the marketing faculty on joint research projects and to contribute to the academic enrichment of the marketing area. This program would help the marketing area increase its visibility in academia and reinforce its position itself as a leading academic institution in the field of service research.
Scope
This program aims to host at Fordham a PhD student or a junior faculty with PhD, to collaborate with a mentor at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University on service-related research. The applicant must identify a mentor who is a full-time tenured/tenure-track member of the Fordham marketing faculty that has similar research interests. The relevant interests of the Fordham faculty mentor with respect to services research can include topics such as loyalty, satisfaction, relative metrics, pricing, financial services, multichannel services, healthcare services, and ethical consumption among others (please check www.fordham.edu/marketing-area for further details about the faculty research interests).
Eligibility
Any PhD student working in the services field who successfully completed third year of his/her program, or a junior faculty within 3 years of completing his/her PhD program. There is no geographic limitation.
Objective
The visiting scholar should target to produce a high quality and rigorous research project in collaboration with the Fordham faculty mentor and to publish that paper(s) in highly-ranked peer reviewed journal(s). While here at Fordham, the visiting scholar may be required to attend research talks organized by the Marketing areas at the Gabelli School of Business and also to give two lectures in their field of expertise to either graduate or undergraduate classes as a guest speaker. The visiting scholar and his/her mentor at Fordham would be asked to present their research to the area at the end of the visit
Award
The visiting scholar receives $1000 financial stipend from the Gabelli School of Business.
Visit schedule: The visiting scholar can choose either fall or spring semester: Fall semester: between Sep 1- Dec 15
Spring semester: between January 15- May 31.

A recent curriculum vitae
A research proposal of no more than 750 words that explains why the applicant is interested in coming to Fordham, stating a specific faculty as a mentor, research topic, explicit anticipated outcomes like target journals, and the preferred semester (fall or spring).
A recommendation letter from the department chair in case of a junior faculty applicant or from the advisor/promoter in case of a PhD student applicant
Non U.S. citizens must meet the requirements to receive a U.S. visa. The visiting scholar’s visit is conditional upon receiving the required visas and legal documents to enter the U.S.
