“The Emerging Service Techonomy and the 2026 Service Research Priorities”
We have an upcoming webinar on Oct. 27 (4PM CET) featuring Maura L. Scott and Martin Mende.
The webinar will zoom-in on two forward-looking themes: The Emerging Service Techonomy and The 2026 Service Research Priorities.
As AI, data infrastructures, and platforms transform service systems, they are giving rise to an emerging “service techonomy,” characterized by increasingly prescribed, omnipresent, and personalized forms of persuasion. Maura and Martin will explore how this development is reshaping frontline interactions, service access, employee guidance, governance, and inclusion.
They will also present the 2026 Service Research Priorities, developed through a hybrid AI–human analysis of more than 11,000 articles. Together, these perspectives invite researchers to reflect on where the field is heading, how AI is reconfiguring service scholarship and practice, and which questions should shape future theory, methods, and impact.
