Food, Wine and Hospitality Management Research Center, Kedge Business School (Bordeaux, France)
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN SUSTAINABLE WINE TOURISM

We are recruiting within the VITIREV program, in connection with the Food, Wine and Hospitality Management Research Center, a Post-Doctoral researcher in Sustainable Wine Tourism on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The VitiREV program, funded by the Nouvelle Aquitaine region since 2020, has established itself as a major player in the transformation of the wine industry in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, centering its action around three fundamental levers: Agroecology, Human Capital, and New Values. This program illustrates the regional desire to support wine stakeholders toward more sustainable and innovative practices, combining scientific excellence with concrete territorial impact. The major objective of VitiREV is to encourage the development of new governance models integrating wine tourism into a global conception of rural and cultural tourism.

During the 5 years of the VitiREV project, the research team from KEDGE Business School conducted 6 in-depth study projects on two major themes: Experience/Digital (escape, satisfaction, virtual reality) and Management /Sustainability(wine tourism business models, green logistics, carbon footprint) of wine tourism.

The post-doctoral researcher’s mission is part of the VitiREV project and aims to apply a holistic approach to anchor wine tourism in a dynamic of sustainable, memorable, and technologically advanced growth, thus providing specific and immediately operational recommendations for all VitiREV partners.

The objectives and work streams are as follows:
– Conduct case studies with wine estates in Nouvelle Aquitaine to analyze the “why” and “how” of their sustainable wine tourism strategy (the architecture of the proposed offer; the short and long-term visions for the estates, the environment, and the visitors) and define the ideal visitor customer experience in a context of sustainable wine tourism. This work  should lead to the writing and publication of a scientific article and serve as a platform for the second study.
– Conduct a large-scale field survey via questionnaire to precisely determine the key factors of the visitor experience that influence satisfaction, memorability, visitor loyalty, and brand image. A second scientific publication is expected as well as the presentation of the results to industry professionals.
– Study behavioral change and understand how the lived experience raises visitor awareness of ecology and encourages them to adopt eco-responsible actions (transformative dimension of the visit).
– Formalize a typology of sustainable wine tourism experiences and promote this work through articles in leading academic journals in the sector.

Field setup: To meet these objectives, a field study is planned with the wineries of Nouvelle Aquitaine that are developing a structured wine tourism strategy, entirely or partially, on the theme of sustainability, specifically with VitiREV program partners.

Desired profile and professional skills:
– PhD in Marketing, Tourism, Sustainability, or Service Management;
– Methodological and analytical skills in qualitative and quantitative studies;
– An aptitude for writing reports and scientific articles in international journals ranked FNEGE/ABS, and for oral communication for diverse audiences (students, academics, professionals);
– Knowledge of the Wine sector and/or the Sustainability theme would be a plus;
– Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.

Soft skills: Rigor, Organization, Pragmatism, Interpersonal qualities. Employment type: Full-time CDD.

Fixed remuneration over 13 months: 38K€. 35 working days of paid leave/year + 15 days of rest pro-rata to the contract.
