Senior Research Associate and Research Associate on Digital Healthcare Models
Applications are invited for a motivated and experienced ‘Research Associate’ and ‘Senior Research Associate’ to join the Cambridge Service Alliance to work on Digital Healthcare team (with Dr Veronica Martinez).
The aim of this project is to develop and prototype business models for enhancing the use of a therapeutic wearable device, by using a combination of modelling and simulation techniques and preventive care analytics. The selected candidates will develop prototypes which can demonstrate the ability to improve the uses of the wearable device in preventive care. These prototypes will be presented to leading industrialists in healthcare.
Researchers with a strong background in business models, healthcare, operations management, services or related scientific discipline are encouraged to apply. An understanding of modelling/simulation, preventive care analytics and developing prototype development (for demonstration and experimental learning) would be desirable.
The successful candidates will work in the Cambridge Service Alliance. Successful candidates will have a track record of productivity, innovation and creativity. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team are essential. Strong experience in publishing high quality academic journal articles are crucial.
The post holders will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
The posts are available until 31st July 2020 (Fixed-term contract position)
Candidates wishing to be appointed at Senior Research Associate level must hold a PhD degree and have a strong research and publication record (with at least three academic journal publications), appropriate to this career stage and a minimum of three years postdoctoral experience or equivalent relevant experience in industry.
Candidates wishing to be appointed at Research Associate level must hold a PhD and have experience in publishing academic journal and conference papers.
Conducting research and performing data analysing. Critical analysis of the results and explanation of findings, validation of findings using different data analysis techniques and contrast them with relevant theories. Key duties include:
– Conduct individual and collaborative research projects
– Continually update knowledge and understanding on the field
– Build, develop and test a variety of business models for digital wearable devices.
– Involve the development of pilots and/or prototypes-based modelling to critically assess them.
– Critically assess, interpret, evaluate and analyse research data/findings and contrast findings with relevant organisational theories and literature
– Write and contribute to academic journal publications
– Identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds
– Assist the preparation of proposals
– Collect data and transcribe interviews
– Create a database of interviewees
Education: Applicants must hold a PhD in Services, Business Models, Healthcare, digital health and preventive care analytics or digital/wearable technologies in healthcare.

Relevant experience: Conducting research and performing data analysing. Candidates appointed at Senior Research Associate level must have a minimum of three years postdoctoral experience or equivalent relevant experience in industry.
