It is our pleasure to invite all PhD students and new faculty members to participate in the 25th Annual SERVSIG Doctoral Consortium, September 5-6, 2018 preceeding the Frontiers in Service Conference hosted by Texas State University in Austin, Texas, USA.
The Consortium is designed to help doctoral students and new faculty succeed in their careers. By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the Consortium provides a unique opportunity for participants to interact with leading service scholars.
Consortium PROGRAM
Besides many networking opportunities, the Doctoral Consortium will be organized around sessions like:
- Creating value through teaching and service;
- Publishing with different methodologies;
- Work-life balance;
- Break-out Session: Discussing Participants’ Doctoral Research.
For the break-out sessions, two to four doctoral students will be assigned to two faculty fellows. During these sessions, each doctoral student will provide a brief presentation of their research and will receive feedback from both faculty fellows. Consortium attendees who would like to participate in these sessions should submit a 2-4 page document of their doctoral research via email to the consortium co-chairs by July 31, 2018.

Liam Glynn TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIPS
Participants can also apply for the Liam Glynn Travel Scholarship. The Liam Glynn Travel Scholarship is generously supported by Arizona State University’s Center for Services Leadership and helps selected emerging service scholars to cover part of the expenses to attend the Consortium. Two to four applicants will be awarded travel grants of $500 – $1,000 depending upon the number of applications received. All submissions should be submitted via email by July 31, 2018, and it should include the following information:
- Curriculum vita;
- Statement as to why attending the Frontiers in Services Conference would be beneficial to the applicant at this stage in his/her career;
- Statement confirming that applicant has a strong interest in the field of service research with supporting information (e.g. area of research).
Important DATES
The consortium will begin with a welcome reception on Wednesday evening, September 5th, 2018 and will continue with a full day of sessions on Thursday, September 6th, 2018.
July 1, 2018: deadline for early registration for the conference. Indicate on the registration form that you would like to participate in the doctoral consortium
July 31st, 2018: deadline for submitting the 2-4 page abstract for the break-out session to Yany Gregoire (yany.gregoire@hec.ca) or Stephanie Noble (snoble@utk.edu).
