The Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, School of Business and Economics, at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, invites applicants for a 6-year tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. We are looking for excellent candidates with a strong research and/or teaching record in the areas of service design, innovation, interaction design, and/or services marketing. The candidate should be familiar with the most recent technological developments in service delivery (e.g., Internet of Things or social media) and the role of big data in service development.

The candidate should be committed to excellence in teaching and research. He or she will teach courses through our face-to-face, problem-based instructional format. Moreover, the candidate should be able to conduct high-quality research that is publishable in the relevant international top journals, and contribute to the transfer of knowledge and expertise to industry (valorization).

In line with our school’s focus on educational innovation, one of the core activities of this position consists in the development, coordination, and teaching of high-quality courses. Specifically, the successful candidate will contribute to, and teach in the Business Intelligence and Smart Services (BISS) master’s program (starting September 2017), in which service design, innovation, technology, and data science are key concepts.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will carry out top-level academic research targeting international, peer-reviewed journals. In particular, the candidate will be involved in the further development of the recently established BISS institute, where he or she will conduct scientific research in collaboration with the institute’s external partners and contribute to the sharing of research results with industry.

Finally, the candidate will take up administrative responsibilities in the department or the school at large. When allocating these tasks, we take into account personal preferences.

Marketing

The department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management (School of Business and Economics) is committed to providing high quality education and to conducting high quality research. We invite candidates with a PhD in Marketing to apply. This is a temporary position with a max duration of 3 years.

We are looking for a high-potential candidate that is committed to excellence in teaching and research. The candidate will teach (post)graduate, undergraduate and/or executive courses through our face-to-face, problem-based instructional format, supervise Master and PhD students and contribute to the department’s educational development activities. The candidate should be able to conduct research that is publishable in international top marketing journals. The candidate should contribute to the transfer of the department’s knowledge and expertise to the outside world (valorization).

Educational Innovation is high on the strategic agenda of the School of Business and Economics, University Maastricht. A critical success factor is the development and implementation of state-of-the-art courses in undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs. The candidate will serve as a course coordinator for at least two courses. This implies the candidate is responsible for the development, coordination and assessment of high quality courses. Given the nature of Problem Based Learning, the course coordinator is also responsible for the coaching and instruction of tutors.

In addition to teaching responsibility, the candidate will also work on independent scientific research aimed at international peer-reviewed journals. The department offers a stimulating research environment and encourages its members to build their (inter)national research network.

As a result the candidate will participate in our research and educational development activities, and is receptive for team work within our department, school, and university.

Finally, all faculty takes responsibility for services at the department or school at large. The allocation of tasks is done by matching needs of the department and personal preferences.
