The department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (IE&IS) engages in education and research in the area of operational business processes and transitions in societies in relation to technical changes. In the IE&IS department, scholars and students work together on critical problems at the interface of engineering, management, innovation, and human behavior. The department has two schools: the School of Industrial Engineering and the School of Innovation Sciences.
The School of Industrial Engineering (School of IE) is one of the leading IE schools in Europe, with a strong presence in the international research and education community. Within the School of Industrial Engineering five degree programs are taught: BSc in Industrial Engineering & Management Science, MSc in Operations Management & Logistics, MSc in Innovation Management, PDEng in Industrial Engineering and PhD in operations, logistics and innovation management. The PhD program is embedded in the research school Beta. The School IE also teaches parts of the MSc in Business Information Systems and the joint master program on Data Science & Entrepreneurship in the city of Den Bosch. The research in the school is strongly connected to the Brainport area, the high-tech industrial area around the city of Eindhoven.
Group
The ITEM group –Innovation, Technology Entrepreneurship & Marketing ̶ is part of the School IE at Eindhoven University of Technology. The group is growing strongly and currently consists of about 25 FTE scientific staff and 15 FTE PhD’s. The group delivers many courses on entrepreneurship, innovation management and marketing. In marketing there is particular attention for sales and service management research. Important concepts are selling solutions, innovation in the frontline, co-creation, web analytics and customer journey, fostering customer experiences, and adoption of self-service technology.

Job description
The ITEM group is looking for an assistant professor in Marketing.
The appointment involves a four-year tenure-track position as an assistant professor, with tenure evaluation after this period and another four years extension to reach associate level in case of positive evaluation. The position involves an approximate 40% research time and 60% teaching and management load.
As a successful candidate you are expected to be involved in conducting top-level academic research in marketing and innovation to be published in high-quality scholarly journals. You will teach courses in the bachelor and/or master programs on these topics. We also expect you to acquire external research funding from industry or organizations like NWO and the EU, and participate actively in international academic networks and organizations.
Requirements
- You should have a relevant PhD degree in the field of marketing with a strong interest in innovation management and new technology.
- You have a drive to conduct excellent research and quality education.
- You already published papers in highly ranked academic marketing journals.
- You also have teaching experience at the Bachelor and/or Master level.
- Ability to speak or willingness to learn to speak Dutch, and fluency in English are required.
- Strong cooperation skills and ability to work in a team;
Conditions of employment
We offer you:

- a full-time fixed-term appointment of max. four years after which a tenure decision will follow;
- a gross monthly full time salary of an assistant professor between €3.427 and €5.330 depending on experience and knowledge;
- a yearly holiday allowance of 8% of the yearly salary;
- a yearly end year allowance of 8.3% of the yearly salary;
