I did not start my career working in the service field, but as they say “better late than never”. With the support and motivation from two great colleagues, Lerzan Aksoy and Tim Keiningham, I started working in this field. I am still learning and transitioning to service research with the help of colleagues from all over the world in the service community, the most welcoming and supportive academic community. In fact, that community was the main reason why I dared to change my research interests quite late in my career, and I cannot be any happier about that decision!

Being of service to others lies at the core of my both professional and personal life. In everything that I do I always look for opportunities to help others. I am a big believer in team work and collaborations, and I enjoy volunteering to do things, even when that means extra work in my already busy life. I feel very privileged that recently I was given opportunities to serve this great community. In December, 2016, I organized the Let’s Talk About Service (LTAS) Workshop at Gabelli School of Business in New York City. Then, in June 2017 I co-chaired the AMA Servsig Doctoral Consortium, with two great fellow co-chairs, Lisa Bruggen and Yany Gregoire, and served as the Director of Conference Program and Events for the Frontiers in Service Conference. Seeing happy and satisfied colleagues at the end was the reward for all the hard work.

I am a Professor of Marketing and the Chair of Marketing Area at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University. My current research interests include multichannel service delivery, the complexity and integration quality in multichannel systems and transformative service research. I have presented my research at various conferences and published my work in a variety of academic journals including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Service Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Financial Services Marketing and Psychology &Marketing among others.

Travelling all over the world is the only thing that helps me keep my sanity and keeps me going. No matter where I go, it is always great coming back to New York City where I have been living for 18 years now. I am always happy to offer my free(!) tour guide services to anyone who visits NYC! Did I mention that I like to help and volunteer? J

Being a member of the SERVSIG Board is a great privilege and honor. I am looking forward to serving this great community in a new role, and working with other board members, all of whom I personally know and respect.

SERVSIG is proud to announce Sertan Kabadayi as treasurer of the SERVSIG board. Sertan Kabadayi is Professor of Marketing and Area Chair at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University, New York.
