November, 7-11, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Symposium:<\/strong> Saturday, November 11, 2017; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Breakfast &amp; Lunch included. Fee = $75 + Conference Registration. Attendees who are staying to Sunday are invited to join Chuck and Maria for dinner.<\/p>\n<p>All papers presented at the Symposium will be considered for publication in a special issue of the <strong>Journal of Business Research<\/strong> (following a formal review process).<\/p>\n<p>Our intent is to expand the breadth of research on the distribution of goods and services to\u00a0consumers and businesses. Potential approaches and topics include, but are not restricted, to:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Theoretical:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All disciplinary perspectives: managerial, economic, behavioral economics, geographic, anthropological, psychological, sociological, cross-cultural, sub-cultural, financial, etc.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Extensions of the Wheel of Retailing, Retail Life Cycle, Retail Accordion, Big Middle, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Methodological:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All analytical, behavioral, conceptual, empirical, experimental, and neuroscience methods<\/li>\n<li>All geographic levels of analysis: neighborhood, rural, urban, regional, national, global<\/li>\n<li>All temporal frameworks: tactical, intermediate-term strategy and long-term strategy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><strong>Retail and Distribution Structures:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>Intratype and intertype competition (bricks vs. bricks, bricks vs. clicks, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>Franchising and other distribution channel issues; new and old retail formats<\/p>\n<p>Exogenous factors that affect distribution:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cultural (acculturation, global consumerism, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Ethical (use of personal information, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Legal (resale price maintenance, legal age of consumption, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Sustainability (truth in labeling, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Studies of the Marketing Mix:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Detailed analyses of the mix: Old Style (radio, TV, newspapers, magazines, e-mail, etc.) and New Style (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Customers\u2019 retail experiences; store and brand images; branding and digital engagement; brand communities; impact of reviews on decision making (online, word-of-mouth, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Locational analyses, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS)<\/li>\n<li>New technologies (digital signage, virtual and augmented reality, self-service, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Full papers (30-page max including references, appendices, tables, and figures) should follow the JBR style guide and be simultaneously submitted to Chuck Ingene (caingene@ou.edu) and Maria Kalamas Hedden (mkalamas@kennesaw.edu).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Due date for submissions: June 15, <\/span><\/em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">20<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">17<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">,<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><br \/>\nAn<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">ticipated date for acceptances: August 15, 2017<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Theme: Consumer and Retailer Views on the Distribution of Goods and Services Due date for submissions: June 15, 2017 The 2017 Retail and Distribution Symposium will be held in conjunction with the Society for Marketing Advances (SMA) Conference, Louisville, KY.
