The successful applicant will participate in a project on \u201cThe effect of linguistic wrapping on customer outcomes. A closer look at interpersonal strategies in German and UK B2C complaint management\u201d, funded by the Special Research Fund at Ghent University.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4071 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Screen-Shot-2016-11-30-at-9.28.11-AM.png\" alt=\"screen-shot-2016-11-30-at-9-28-11-am\" width=\"181\" height=\"148\" \/>Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This research project further explores the influence of language on customer outcomes in service contexts. Focusing on a German and UK B2C setting, it intends to study how interpersonal strategies and their linguistic realizations in organizational e-mail replies to complaints impact justice perceptions and satisfaction (a.o).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Candidates should<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>hold a Master\u2019s degree in Multilingual Communication, Linguistics, Communication, Business Economics or an equivalent degree. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment<\/li>\n<li>have an excellent track record<\/li>\n<li>be highly motivated to carry out academic research with a view to obtaining a PhD<\/li>\n<li>have a command of English and German at the C1\/C2 level of the CEFR (Common \u2028European Framework) or as a native speaker<\/li>\n<li>be willing to carry out experimental and interdisciplinary research<\/li>\n<li>have excellent communication and organization skills<\/li>\n<li>have excellent writing and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>work well independently, while also excelling in teamwork. \u2028<strong>You will be expected to <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>collect data and conduct both an empirical qualitative study and several experimental studies<\/li>\n<li>prepare a PhD on the basis of the project<\/li>\n<li>write individual and joint publications for national and international scientific \u2028journals<\/li>\n<li>present your research at national and international conferences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>We offer: <\/strong>a 48-month PhD position at Ghent University (Research Centre MULTIPLES &amp; Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication), starting 1 February 2017.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants are requested to submit the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a letter of application and curriculum vitae<\/li>\n<li>a transcript of the required degree<\/li>\n<li>an overview of your study results all merged into one PDF document<\/li>\n<li>a piece of writing (e.g. a student paper or publication) in English, German or Dutch which demonstrates your academic competence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications are to be sent by e-mail to prof. dr.
