{"id":2899,"date":"2016-06-15T17:55:22","date_gmt":"2016-06-15T17:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/?p=2899"},"modified":"2016-06-15T17:55:22","modified_gmt":"2016-06-15T17:55:22","slug":"rich-oliver-passed-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/2016\/06\/rich-oliver-passed-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Rich Oliver passed away"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_2900\" style=\"width: 189px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2900\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2900\" src=\"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/124photo_2.jpg\" alt=\"Rich Oliver headshot (Vanderbilt Photo\/Steve Green)\" width=\"179\" height=\"235\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2900\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rich Oliver<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I am sorry to report the recent death of <strong>Rich Oliver<\/strong> (see the message below from Vanderbilt Dean Eric Johnson).\u00a0 Rich was a brilliant theoretician, and in my view the world&#8217;s foremost expert on customer satisfaction.\u00a0 He was also a key figure in the Frontiers in Service Conference in its early years.\u00a0 I learned a lot from Rich, and had the pleasure of co-authoring many papers and co-editing a book with him.\u00a0 And as Eric mentions, who can forget Rich riding his Harley to the Frontiers Conference in Nashville!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Roland Rust<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It saddens me to report that Emeritus Professor Richard L. Oliver died this week at his home in Nashville. \u00a0A distinguished researcher in the field of consumer psychology, Rich joined the Owen faculty in 1990, after more than a decade of teaching at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the Graduate School of Business Administration at Washington University. Within the field of consumer psychology, Professor Oliver focused on customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, and post-purchase processes generally.
