{"id":13,"date":"2014-09-16T09:51:26","date_gmt":"2014-09-16T09:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/?p=13"},"modified":"2023-10-22T04:42:08","modified_gmt":"2023-10-22T08:42:08","slug":"ama-servsig-doctoral-consortium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/2014\/09\/ama-servsig-doctoral-consortium\/","title":{"rendered":"AMA SERVSIG Doctoral Consortium"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Services Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) of the American Marketing Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the <strong>22<sup>nd <\/sup>Annual SERVSIG Doctoral Consortium<\/strong>, preceding the Frontiers in Service Conference, to be held at <strong>San Jose, California.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consortium will begin with a welcome reception on <strong>Wednesday, July 8<sup>th<\/sup>, 2015<\/strong> and will continue with full day sessions on <strong>Thursday, July 9<sup>th<\/sup>, 2015<\/strong>. The consortium is designed to help doctoral students and new faculty succeed in their careers. By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the consortium provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to interact with the field&#8217;s leading service scholars and also get feedback from them on research.<\/p>\n<p>The doctoral consortium will be organized around 4 sessions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kick Start and Manage Your Career;<\/li>\n<li>Publishing Relevant and Rigorous Research;<\/li>\n<li>Creating Impact Through Teaching and Service;<\/li>\n<li>Break-out Session: Discussing Participants\u2019 Doctoral Research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Confirmed speakers and panelists include: <em>Steve Baron, Mary Jo Bitner, David Bowen, Lisa Br\u00fcggen, Ray Fisk, Sertan Kabadayi, Janet McColl-Kennedy, Paul Maglio, Ed Malthouse, Parsu Parasuraman, Javier Reynoso, Marianna Sigala, and Allard Van Riel <\/em>amongst others.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of topics that would be covered during the event are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Starting and managing your career in academia<\/li>\n<li>Building connections and collaboration with other researchers and industry<\/li>\n<li>Identifying interesting and relevant research questions<\/li>\n<li>Being a productive and effective researcher<\/li>\n<li>Getting through the review process<\/li>\n<li>Approaches to impactful teaching<\/li>\n<li>Managing research, teaching loads and service requirements<\/li>\n<li>During the break-out session, two to three doctoral students will be assigned to 2 esteemed faculty fellows participating in the consortium. Each doctoral student will provide a brief presentation of their selected research topic and will receive feedback from both faculty fellows and other doctoral students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The consortium presents unique opportunities for doctoral students to meet some of the world\u2019s eminent and emerging service scholars and benefit from their experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Doctoral consortium participants must register for the conference in order to participate in the event.
