A mix of junior and experienced faculty will provide their perspectives on finding the right position and becoming an excellent researcher and teacher. With their combined experience, the panel will be able to answer questions about &#8220;the dissertation phase, being on the job-market, and life after obtaining a PhD&#8221; (Yes, there is one!). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who Should Attend <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Consortium welcomes Ph.D. students from all subject areas within Service Management (e.g. human resources, marketing, operations, and strategy). There are several important reasons why you should attend:<br \/>\u00b7 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Networking<\/span>: getting a job, finding collaborators, and gaining advantages in the career you are about to enter are all related to \u201cwho you know\u201d. This is your chance to meet and get to know some of the leading researchers and educators in the field.<br \/>\u00b7 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Skill development<\/span>: excellent teaching and research require practical skills in addition to content knowledge. You will learn from both established scholars and recent graduates who will share their secrets to success.<br \/>\u00b7 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Furthering your research<\/span>: it will give you a chance to engage in a discussion of your research ideas with your peers and with outstanding researchers in the area of service as well as discuss issues and challenges in service research<br \/>\u00b7 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Fun<\/span>: Come socialize with your current and future colleagues in a city that has retained its sense of history and tradition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications from Ph.D. students are now invited. In order to be prepared to participate to the Doctoral Consortium, you must <strong>submit (1) a one-page resume, and (2) a one-page non-technical summary of your thesis research<\/strong>. Please do not write any confidential information in the summary. Writing a nontechnical summary will be helpful for you to talk to potential employers, your peers and the panelists about your research. <br \/>You should e-mail your summary and resume as a two-page pdf file to: <em>quis17vlc@upv.es<\/em> using the subject: \u201cDoctoral Consortium submission\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no additional cost for attending the Consortium to the students but <strong>all participants must be registered for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/?p=11208\">the QUIS17 conference<\/a><\/strong>.
