The consortium is designed to help doctoral students and new faculty succeed in their careers. By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the consortium provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to learn from and interact with the field\u2019s leading service scholars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REGISTRATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consortium participants must <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox.temple.edu\/institutes-centers\/global-center-for-big-data-and-mobile-analytics\/conferences\/2021-frontiers-in-service-conference\/\">register online<\/a>\u00a0by<strong> May 31st, 2021<\/strong>. Any doctoral student or early-career faculty member can register. No nomination letter is needed. Consortium participants will also have to register for the conference. The consortium will cost $25 to cover processing fees in addition to the registration for the conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CONSORTIUM PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To account for the different time zones of our audience we will hold two separate consortia (material will be the same so no need to attend both, unless you just want to see more of us!). The times are listed below.&nbsp; When registering online please indicate which time you will attend.<br \/>&#8211; First Session: Thursday, July 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;starting at 8am eastern time (1pm in London; 2pm Germany)<br \/>&#8211; Second Session: Thursday, July 8<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;starting at 8pm eastern time (which is next day, Friday July 9<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;8am in Beijing and 10am in Sydney)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The consortium should last 3.5 hours, but please block off a 4-hour timeframe from the start of the consortium to allow for longer Q&amp;A times if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CONSORTIUM SESSIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SESSION 1:&nbsp;<strong>Creating Impactful Research and Publishing Advice<\/strong><br \/>This session will discuss how to develop an impactful research agenda and advice on publishing. The incoming editors will share their insights regarding: 1) what defines impactful, 2) how to develop research ideas, 3) factors to consider as you develop a research agenda, 4) how to best position work for impact, 5) thoughts on data and methodologies, just to name a few examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SESSION 2:&nbsp;<strong>Creating Impact Through Teaching and Service<\/strong><br \/>This session will discuss how to develop an impactful teaching agenda and how to deal with service\/administrative requirements. The incoming editors will share their insights regarding: 1) selecting courses to teach at different levels (e.g. graduate and undergraduate), 2) preparing and developing courses, 3) selecting and teaching with cases; 4) integrating research into your courses, 5) stimulating student participation, 6) utilizing online learning platforms, and 7) engaging in and managing service tasks, among other topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SESSION 3: <strong>Speed Q&amp;A <\/strong><br \/>This virtual roundtable session will look similar to \u201cspeed dating\u201d but in an academic forum.&nbsp; Consortium attendees will be assigned to breakout groups (approx. 5 attendees per group) and faculty will rotate to a different groups every 20 minutes.&nbsp; Two renowned scholars will be in each breakout group to answer questions posed by attendees. This will be a fun and interactive session where students can quickly ask a variety of questions (on any academic topic \u2013 teaching, service, research, work-life balance, etc.) to top researchers in the field. &nbsp;The rotations will allow consortium attendees to get diverse perspectives on their questions.
