By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the consortium provides <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">a unique opportunity<\/span><\/em> for participants to interact with the field&#8217;s leading service\u00a0scholars\u00a0and get feedback on research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>-1- Consortium PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Frontiers-MIami-030_1_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-397 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Frontiers-MIami-030_1_1-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"Frontiers-MIami-030_1_1\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a>Besides many networking opportunities (breaks, lunch, reception), the doctoral consortium will be organized around 4 sessions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Kick Start and Manage <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Your Career<\/span> (90 minutes);<\/li>\n<li>Publishing Relevant and Rigorous <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Research<\/span> (90 minutes);<\/li>\n<li>Creating Impact Through <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Teaching and Service<\/span> (90 minutes);<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Break-out Session<\/span>: Discussing Participants\u2019 Doctoral Research (2 hours).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>More precisely, two to three doctoral students will be assigned to two esteemed faculty fellows participating in the consortium. During this session, each doctoral student will provide a brief presentation of their selected research topic and will receive feedback from both faculty fellows, as well as the other doctoral students.<\/p>\n<p>Faculty Fellows presenting at the consortium include: Steve Baron, Mary Jo Bitner, David Bowen, Lisa Br\u00fcggen, Ray Fisk, Sertan Kabadayi, Janet McColl-Kennedy, Paul Maglio, Ed Malthouse, Parsu Parasuraman, Javier Reynoso, Marianna Sigala, and Allard Van Riel.<\/p>\n<p>Further details can be found at:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www-950.ibm.com\/events\/ast\/fsc\/15frontiers.nsf\/configdocs\/DocConsort\">https:\/\/www-950.ibm.com\/events\/ast\/fsc\/15frontiers.nsf\/configdocs\/DocConsort<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>-2- Consortium DATES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consortium will begin with a welcome reception on Wednesday evening, July 8, 2015 and will continue with a full day of sessions on Thursday, July 9, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>-3- CALL for PhD Students TO PARTICIPATE in the Consortium<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Frontiers-MIami-018_1_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-385 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.servsig.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Frontiers-MIami-018_1_1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Frontiers-MIami-018_1_1\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Doctoral consortium participants must register for the conference\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>consortium in order to participate in the event (<a href=\"https:\/\/www-950.ibm.com\/events\/ast\/fsc\/15frontiers.nsf\/enrollall\">https:\/\/www-950.ibm.com\/events\/ast\/fsc\/15frontiers.nsf\/enrollall<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>We highly encourage every attendee to participate in the dedicated breakout session to discuss his or her research projects with\u00a0scholars\u00a0who share complimentary interests.<\/p>\n<p>Consortium attendees who would like to participate in these breakout sessions should submit a 2-4 pages document of their doctoral research via email to the consortium co-chair, Bart Larivi\u00e8re, Center for Service Intelligence, Ghent University, (<a href=\"mailto:Bart.Lariviere@UGent.be\">Bart.Lariviere@UGent.be<\/a>)\u00a0<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by May 1st, 2015<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Although not mandatory, participants are encouraged to share the following information in their report: topic of their PhD, and why this is important to study, theories they use or plan to use, details on data they analyze or tend to collect, their methodological approach, and a rough time line or overview of their planned studies. Depending on their own choice, and stage of the doctoral trajectory, they can either share information about one particular paper, an overview of their entire PhD, or both.<\/p>\n<p><strong>-4- TRAVEL\u00a0SCHOLARSHIPS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Participants can also apply for the\u00a0Liam\u00a0Glynn\u00a0Travel\u00a0Scholarship. The\u00a0Liam\u00a0Glynn\u00a0Travel\u00a0Scholarship\u00a0is generously supported byArizona State University\u2019s Center for Services Leadership and helps selected emerging service\u00a0scholars\u00a0to cover part of the expenses to attend the Consortium and the Frontiers in Service Conference.<\/p>\n<p>Two to four applicants will be awarded travel grants of $500 &#8211; $1,000 depending upon the number of applications received. Current Ph.D. seeking students and recent graduates are eligible to apply.
