The AMA SERVSIG is pleased to announce the 30th Annual SERVSIG Doctoral Consortium, preceding the Frontiers in Service Conference, hosted by Florida State University at the Omni Resort on the enchanted Amelia Island on 26-27 June 2024.

The consortium is designed to help doctoral students and new faculty succeed in their careers. By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the consortium provides a special opportunity for participants to interact with leading service scholars.

We invite PhD students at all levels and early-career stage faculty to register and participate in the DC! So marked the dates in your calendar and stay tuned for more details on the program!

THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2024

During the DC, we discuss various components of academic life: research (positioning your paper, publishing/the review process), education, and work-life balance.  We also provide a mentoring session where you have the chance to discuss your research with an international scholar who shares complimentary interests.

REGISTRATION AND IMPORTANT DATES

Doctoral Consortium participants must first register for the Frontiers in Service Conference in order to participate in this event. To register, please clearly indicate on the registration form that you plan to participate in the Doctoral Consortium.

Importantly, if you would like to participate in the mentor session at the Consortium, you will have to submit a short summary (2-4 pages) of your research before May 1, 2024. Please send your proposal to mirella.kleijnen@vu.nl.

In your submission please share the following information (to the extent that you can): 

  1. Your primary research question
  2. Why is it important to study
  3. Applicable theory
  4. Details on data analyzed or that you plan to collect, methodological approach, a rough time line for your planned studies.

Depending on your stage of your doctoral you can choose to share information on a paper, an overview of your whole thesis, or both.

THE LIAM GLYNN TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP

SERVSIG and the Arizona State University’s Center for Services Leadership give emerging service scholars the opportunity to attend the Services Doctoral Consortium and the Frontiers in Service Conference with financial assistance. A committee of AMA SERVSIG members will select the award recipients.

Participants can apply for the Liam Glynn Travel Scholarship. All submissions should be submitted via email by May 1, 2024, and it should include the following information:

  • Curriculum vita
  • Statement as to why attending the Frontiers in Service Conference would be beneficial to the applicant at this stage in his/her career
  • Statement confirming that applicant has a strong interest in the field of service research with supporting information (e.g. area of research)
