The incoming Journal of Service Research co-editorial team is pleased to announce that they will be co-chairing the 2021 Frontiers in Service Doctoral and Early Career Consortium.
The consortium will take place virtually on Zoom on July 8, 2021, preceding the Frontiers in Service Conference, hosted by Temple University’s Fox School of Business. The consortium is designed to help doctoral students and new faculty succeed in their careers. By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the consortium provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to learn from and interact with the field’s leading service scholars.
REGISTRATION
Consortium participants must register online by May 31st, 2021. Any doctoral student or early-career faculty member can register. No nomination letter is needed. Consortium participants will also have to register for the conference. The consortium will cost $25 to cover processing fees in addition to the registration for the conference.
CONSORTIUM PROGRAM
To account for the different time zones of our audience we will hold two separate consortia (material will be the same so no need to attend both, unless you just want to see more of us!). The times are listed below. When registering online please indicate which time you will attend.
– First Session: Thursday, July 8th starting at 8am eastern time (1pm in London; 2pm Germany)
– Second Session: Thursday, July 8th starting at 8pm eastern time (which is next day, Friday July 9th 8am in Beijing and 10am in Sydney)
The consortium should last 3.5 hours, but please block off a 4-hour timeframe from the start of the consortium to allow for longer Q&A times if needed.
CONSORTIUM SESSIONS

SESSION 3: Speed Q&A
This virtual roundtable session will look similar to “speed dating” but in an academic forum. Consortium attendees will be assigned to breakout groups (approx. 5 attendees per group) and faculty will rotate to a different groups every 20 minutes. Two renowned scholars will be in each breakout group to answer questions posed by attendees. This will be a fun and interactive session where students can quickly ask a variety of questions (on any academic topic – teaching, service, research, work-life balance, etc.) to top researchers in the field. The rotations will allow consortium attendees to get diverse perspectives on their questions. Come ready with your questions!
