MODUL University Vienna (MU) is seeking an outstanding scholar to teach, raise external funding and conduct research in the area of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Candidates should have a specialty in one or more of the following areas: Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Service Innovation, Open Innovation, Social Networks, Social Finance, Start-up Finance and Consulting, Impact Investing, and Organizational Behavior. Special consideration is given to candidates with practical experience with startup and industry projects in innovative areas (e.g., life-sciences, biotechnology, data science).

The new position is designed to play a leading role in advancing the business and management programs within the university through innovative, high-quality research and effective teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who are recognized scholars with a record of excellence in research and teaching, possess a comprehensive understanding of widely-used concepts and methodology of selected topics in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation, and have a demonstrated ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary research projects with university and department colleagues.

The position is located within the Department of International Management. Applicants should be willing to take a leadership role in developing the Department’s profile through original research and knowledge transfer activities in the area of International Management.


  • Doctorate in business administration, management, or related field within the social sciences;
  • Evidence of outstanding research ability and potential, through a record of publications and/or participation in relevant research projects;
  • Experience and established commitment to high-quality teaching;
  • Ability to teach courses in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation and/or related areas;
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising PhD candidates;
  • Ability to attract external funding to support research programs and to successfully build collaborative research programs with other universities, research institutes and industry:
  •  Leadership skills to further develop the area of international management at MU;
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills; proficiency in German language is welcome

The successful candidate will teach courses in undergraduate, graduate and post‐graduate programs offered by MODUL University Vienna. The teaching load for this position is 5 units/week per semester (1 unit = 45 minutes of teaching). He/she will be expected to further develop his/her research agenda in the general area of entrepreneurship and innovation.

This is a full‐time, unlimited contract position where applicants are prepared to work 40 hours per week. The position will start in Fall 2017 or earlier. The standard annual salary for 40 hours per week is 70,000 EUR (gross). The University offers opportunities for additional remuneration for extra teaching and outstanding scholarship.
